Ⅰ. About Saitama University

Saitama University is a national university in Saitama prefecture. It takes about 10 minutes to the university by bus from the nearest stations, which are Minami-Yono and Kita-Urawa. This university is the best one for people who want to move to big cities but feel uneasy to move to and live in Tokyo. The campus is full of nature, so you can enjoy change of seasons.

Ⅱ. Campus life

Saitama university has the Faculties of Liberal Arts, Economics, Education, and Science and Engineering in one campus. Many courses are so flexible and optional that you learn from a variety of perspectives. Also, you can get your teaching license in the faculty of education, so I recommend people who interested in teaching to check this faculty.

We have the annual Campus Festival called “Mutsume-Sai” in autumn. In that festival, some international students sell their traditional dishes in food stands.

Ⅲ. Exchanges with international students

We have a lot of opportunities to communicate with international students.

First,  international students can live in student accommodation with some Japanese students who support them so you can spend campus life with no uneasiness. In addition, we have many free events such as welcoming party, summer festival, autumn party, farewell party, and so on. Thus, you can spend an enjoyable time with Japanese students in this university.

In terms of courses, you can choose many classes which satisfy your needs from basic Japanese language learning to advanced and specialized learning such as Japanese industry, economics and culture. In cultural experiences, you can experience tea ceremony, flower arrangements, making Japanese food, and kimono dressing. In particular, kimono dressing is the most popular class because you can experience full-scale and authentic kimono dressing.

In regard to club activities, we have many opportunities to communicate with international students, too. For instance, in ESS, English conversation club, international students and Japanese students enjoy conversation, games and parties. In a Halloween party, everyone wears unique costumes. You can make friends with many Japanese students through these events. For instance, Some people go sightseeing to cities in holiday together.
