Tourist Spots in Japan

Many people from abroad visit Japanese tourist attractions every year. As you know, however, it is very difficult for us to visit other countries now because of COVID-19. Thus, we introduce famous and popular sightseeing spots in this page so you feel you would like to visit these spots when this whole virus is dealt with.

All the places we introduce in this page are where the writer have visited before.

Kinkaku-ji (Kyoto)

Do you know Kinkaku-ji? Kinkaku-ji is one of the most famous Japanese temples. This temple is sometimes called the Gold Temple in English because the outer walls of second and third floor are covered with gold. Kinkaku-ji is listed as one of the World Cultural Heritage sites in Kyoto.

You will find different images of Kinkaku-ji from season to season. This is why Kinkaku-ji is popular with many people all year. Many Japanese students visit Kinkaku-ji during school trip. Actually I have been there three times before.

Fushimi Inari Taisha (Kyoto)

Fushimi Inari Taisha, located in Kyoto, is the head shrine of about 30,000 Inari shrines in Japan. Fushimi Inari Taisha has about 10,000 red torii gates called “Senbon-torii” in Japanese. This place is very crowded during the day, so the best time to visit is early in the morning!

Kenroku-en Garden (Ishikawa)

Kenroku-en Garden, located in Ishikawa prefecture, is known as one of the three noted gardens (Nihon Sandai Meien in Japanese:日本三大名園) in Japan. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery in the garden experiencing the Japanese traditional atmosphere.

Kotoji-toro

Kotoji-toro is one of the main objects in Kenroku-en Garden. You should take a picture with Kotoji-toro when visiting here!

Mount Hakodate (Hokkaido)

Hakodate is located in Hokkaido. The night view from Mt. Hakodate is amazing and this is counted as one of the world’s best three night views. Many people especially couples and families come to see this view. Actually, I visited here in October 27, 2020 and I was very moved by the fantastic landscape.


 

The Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse (Hokkaido)

The Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse is a popular commercial complex consisting of a wide variety of shops, cafes, and so on.

There are four facilities, BAY Hakodate, Kanemori Yobutsukan, Hakodate History Plaza, and Kanemori Hall.

In the BAY Hakodate area, there is a beautiful canal surrounded by many nice cafes and chapels. The night view of this area is fantastic.

Stone Church (Nagano)

Stone Church is located in Naka-Karuizawa, Nagano.

You can look around the inside of the church for free which is using natural light and water flowing.

You can definitely relieve the weariness of the travel in this church.

Tomioka Silk Mill (Gunma)

Tomioka Silk Mill is a World Heritage Site and also listed as a National Treasure.

The main buildings were constructed by integrating Japanese and European technologies.

After registered as a World Heritage Site and National Treasure, approximately five million people visited Tomioka Silk Mill to the present.
